1. Remarkable’s Glamping Queenstown – Secluded Rural
Type: Tent hosted by Bridget (1 bed, 1 bath)
Location: 20 minutes from downtown Queenstown at the base of The Remarkables
Superhost: Yes
Price: $295+
If you love the glamping vibe, this is your ticket. The 5 metre Lotus Belle tent is at the base of The Remarkables, close enough to town but you’ll feel secluded out here (only 10 minutes from the airport). The tent features a comfy queen bed and comes with all the amenities you can think of.
This is an off-the-grid experience, so the solar lights and lantern will provide light for your evening activities, they’ve even got board games. And given you’re off the grid, the mountain bike trails are even more enticing (mount bikes are supplied).

2. Cherry Tree House Arthurs Point.
Type: Entire apartment hosted by Michael And Nery (2 bed, 1 bath)
Location: Arthurs Point, less than 10 minutes drive from Queenstown.
Superhost: No.
Price: $321+
The Shotover River is gorgeous, and that’s right next to where you’ll find the Cherry Tree House with accompanying panoramic views.
Given its proximity to Coronet Peak, many people choose this as a base for a ski holiday that gives easy access without being in the chaos of downtown Queenstown.
The hosts live on-site, but the house is stand-alone and fully self-contained. They’re happy to help you out if need be, but they’ll le
The architecture is brilliant with the stone, and recycled beams being prominent features. Though the under-floor heating is a blessing in disguise. And you can’t go wrong with the gas fire.
What Past Guests Have Said:
3. Treehouse Spa Escape
Type: Entire house hosted by Lisa (2 bed, 1 bath)
Location: Arthurs Point, less than 10 minutes drive from Queenstown.
Superhost: No
Price: $219+
Another spot in Arthur’s Point, making it a great destination for those who enjoy going for a drink at Cargo or the Gin Bar after some night skiing in the winter.
The owners describe this as a chic house (the treehouse title is misleading I think) and is surrounded by trees giving it some privacy. And yes, you can see the mountains.
With uber comforts like a fireplace and outdoor spa, this is a great spot during the Queenstown winter, but the all-day sun means you get to spend long summer evenings in warmth here too…you could fire up the BBQ.
They have all the gear you’d find in your house at home, so while you will want to be doing all the things in Queenstown, you can easily spend a lazy day here.
What Past Guests Have Said:
4. Luxurious Lake View Penthouse on Queenstown Hill
Type: Entire townhouse hosted by Kaye (1 bed, 1.5 bath)
Location: Queenstown Hill, a short distance from downtown Queenstown
Superhost: Yes
Price: $331
This Penthouse Suite has some amazing views over Queenstown from close to the Queenstown Hill trailhead.
This place is super spacious with an open-plan layout (with ensuite). You could invite friends over while you stay here (it’s only one bedroom) to take advantage of the large deck courtyard and spa pool. That said, it’s also great accommodation for you’re honeymoon.
If you’re renting a car, you won’t need to worry about parking as there’s an internal garage, as well as a drying cupboard for your ski/snowboard equipment in the winter.
Note, there is a three-bedroom property below which you won’t have access to. But if you book the penthouse there will not be other guests using that property during your stay to give you privacy.
The owner has spent lots of time in Queenstown and is happy to recommend plans for your stay, and can even make bookings while you’re there making sure you get seats at the best restaurants in Queenstown, etc.
The downstairs three bedrooms and main bathroom remain locked and are not for use by Penthouse guests. PLEASE NOTE no other guests are on the property when the Penthouse is booked.
What Past Guests Have Said:
5. The Lake House Villa 4- Direct Lake Access
Type: Entire villa hosted by Bridget (4 bed, 3.5 bath)
Location: Queenstown
Superhost: Yes
Price: $1,240
If you’re going to Queenstown with a group of friends, this lake house villa might be the best way to enjoy Queenstown in style. Though a family would appreciate this too with no need to book multiple hotel/motel rooms.
The large windows and balcony give you epic mountain and lake views, and in the summer you can get straight to the lake via the property.
Split over two floors, the four bedrooms all have king beds. One benefit is two of the neds can be split into singles to create a 2 king bed and 4 single bed set up.
This is a new property so you won’t need to worry about the warmth, this villa has all the modern amenities (gas fireplace/heat pumps, etc.) with high-end appliances.
Bonus: there’s a washing machine and dryer on site.
What Past Guests Have Said:
6. Hillary’s A-Frame in Central Queenstown
Type: Entire chalet hosted by The Hillarys (2 bed, 1 bath)
Location: Queenstown
Superhost: Yes
Price: $300+
The Hillary family uses this place as their base when in Queenstown, how cool is that. And Sir Ed gets a feature with a picture of his return after his historic climb in 1953.
This A-Frame house has been refurbished to transform it into a cute, comfortable place with epic views throughout the house.
Split over two floors, the bottom floor is where the living area, kitchen, and bathroom are. Upstairs is where you’ll have both of the bedrooms.
Parking is on-site which is convenient as you might not need to drive far as you’re only a short walk from the middle of town.
A-Frame houses are never easy to heat, but the owners have done their best to make the place cozy in winter with heavy curtains, new heat pumps, electric blankets, and quality bedding.
Note: There are stairs to access the house and with some steep drops off the balcony, this property won’t suit everyone,
What Past Guests Have Said:
7. Star Gazing Loft Studio with Kitchenette
Type: Entire loft hosted by Cara (1 bed, 1 bath)
Location: Kawarau Falls
Superhost: Yes
Price: $90
Jacks Point is a place that’s becoming super popular with locals as the region continues to grow. It’s a good 30 minutes or so from town, but with a world-class golf course, awesome walking trails, and close to the bottom of The Remarkables, it’s not exactly a bad location…which is made better with all the options to get around Queenstown.
The loft has a separate entrance to the rest of the house as it’s above the garage. The loft is super cozy and has all your needs to get by such as the kitchenette having a fridge, kettle, toaster, etc. And they’ll provide coffee, tea, milk, and sugar.
The Queen Bed comes with an electric blanket and warm linen. It’s a good-sized loft as it also has an en-suite bathroom and lounge area. It’s a pretty epic place to park up for less than $100 per night in Queenstown.
What Past Guests Have Said:
8. The Wheelhouse
Type: Entire apartment hosted by Andrae (4 bed, 3 bath)
Location:
Superhost: Yes
Price: $532
Love a sauna? This place has one! And an indoor spa bath in one of the ensuites.
The Wheelhouse is a large apartment in a luxury complex with each bedroom having its own bathroom, yet it’s less than five minute to walk into town.
Across the two levels, you get a variety of awesome views with the big bi-fold windows. On the top floor with the kitchen/lounge/dining area, one bedroom, bathroom, and laundry. On the bottom floor is the other two bedrooms/bathrooms, and another entertainment space.
There’s a lot going on with The Wheelhouse despite being in an apartment complex…yes there’s a private courtyard/deck. With the flexibility of the bed set ups, this place will work great for families or groups of friends.
And if you’re wondering how they came up with the name, The Wheelhouse, it’s inspired by the TSS Earnslaw which you can see from the apartment.

9. Stunning House with Magnificent Lake Views
Type: Entire house hosted by Chloe & Chris (4 bed, 1 bath)
Location:Superhost: Yes
Price: $
If you’re looking for a home-like experience in Queenstown, this recently renovated house might be what you’re looking for.
Located with views over Queenstown (you’ll be ~10-15 minutes from downtown), you might struggle to leave with the fast internet and Netflix on all TVs.
Best of all, they provide basic breakfast supplies. Think milk, juice, toast, fruit, spreads, etc. That’s going to save you some time before you get on with your Queenstown missions.
This Queenstown Airbnb is based on three levels, with a unique style and high quality linen. Here’s how they are set up:
Bottom floor:
- Master bedroom (king bed)
- Guest room (two single beds)
- Kid’s room/office with a single bed and toys
- Bathoom and laundry
- There are heaters in each room
Second floor:
- Roomy large room with a/c
- Balcony with epic views
- Third floor:
- Dining room (with views)
- Fully equipped kitchen, coffee machine included
- Access to the street
This is a great private property with security that’ll make for a great base in Queenstown.
What Past Guests Have Said:
10. Alpine Pod
Type: Entire cabin hosted by Sally (1 bed, 1 bath)
Location: Arthur’s Point
Superhost: Yes
Price: $
This is not the hostel-style pods that are popping up everywhere, but a modern property in Arthurs Point. It’s not a large space but is stand-alone and being so close to Coronet Peak, you’re in for a genuine alpine experience when you stay here.
This place isn’t going to leave you shivering at night with double glazed windows, underfloor heating, and it gets sun throughout the day.
The private courtyard is a great place to spend warm evenings in the summer cooking on the BBQ, and the swing on the willow tree is worthy of a photo. But there’s also a host of things to do in Arthurs Point, you’re not in the middle of surburbia.
Note: The main house is located on the same property, but you have a private entrance for those who want independence. Though Sally’s hospitality is mentioned regularly in the reviews as being great.
What Past Guests Have Said:
11. Your own private place with views on Frankton Road
Type: Campervan/RV hosted by Brock And Julie (1 bed, 1 bath)
Location:
Superhost: Yes
Price: $59
If you’re looking for a cheap private place in Queenstown, this Coachman caravan is for you. This is a great place for couples/pair of friends who are going to be out all day hiking around Queenstown/adventuring etc. and need a nice cruisey room to stay without being overly flashy.
The caravan has a double bed, and the caravan comes with a TV, microwave, ensuite bathroom, and wifi (2GB/day). The caravan is insulated, and double glazed so it’s not going to be losing heat by the second in the winter.
Located on Frankton Road, you’ve got easy access right in between Frankton and Queenstown (which you can walk to via the Frankton Track. And like the nearby Sherwood, it’s easy to get to both with public transport.
What Past Guests Have Said:
12. Ora° Retreat – The Tui Tiny House
Type: Private room in tiny house hosted by Sage (2 bed, 1.5 bath)
Location: Queenstown
Superhost: Yes
Price: $129
What does Ora mean? It’s a verb meaning to be alive, well, healthy, fit…you get the idea.
Located among the trees, you get views of both the lake and mountains as you’d expect in Queenstown. This property is located in Sunshine Bay which does mean you’ll be lacking sun, particularly in winter. Yeap, even though it’s called Sunshine Bay…that’s misleading.
RELATED: THE BEAUTIFUL SUNSHINE BAY TRACK
Location wise, it’s a short drive or bus ride from the centre of town.
The Tui Cabin is a tiny house, so it is small, but with mezzanine space, there’s plenty of space for up to three people. The toilets are not a part of the cavin but in the main house 20-metres away.
The tiny house was built in the 1970s but has been renovated to match the 21st-century standards. But being tucked away in the trees makes this so magical, with lots of variety in the plants and flowers on site.
You also have access to the main house, where there’s a large table to meet other guests in front f the fireplace while playing games or watching movies. The team at Ora Retreat tries to make everyone feel like family with regular swims, yoga, mediations and the like.
This experience won’t be for everyone, but it’s one of the best Airbnbs in Queenstown for those who like to meet others on their travels.
What Past Guests Have Said:
13. Karmalure lakefront cottage
Type: Entire cottage hosted by Mark And Rebecca (1 bed, 1 bath)
Location: Queenstown
Superhost: Yes
Price: $200
This cottage is made of timber with a Scandinavian style and has great views of both mountains and Lake Wakatipu that makes Queenstown so pretty.
Inside the cottage are a complete kitchen, laundry, internet, epic shower, and wifi. And you get a free kiwi continental breakfast while you’re there, win. But if you want to eat out, The Boatshed Cafe is a short walk away.
The cottage is on the same property where the hosts live (they have a dog), but they’re super friendly.
