YUMMY VEGAN BURGERS IN NEW ZEALAND

I love a good burger, and as a plant-based human of 7+ years, I’m stoked that there are lots of vegan burgers in New Zealand.

I’ve detailed many of them here on Chur New Zealand (I wish I started doing this earlier) and figured I might as well start compiling them all in one place.

If you’ve got an awesome vegan burger recommendation, do let me and everyone else know in the comments below.

What do I think is the best vegan burger in New Zealand?

For me, so far, it has to be one of the options from EAT in Ohakune (I haven’t reviewed one here yet), and I love the jackfruit burger from Smith’s Craft Beer House in Queenstown.

• The Fallen Angel from Devil Burger
  – housemade vegetarian mix with the Devil’s secret herbs & spices, sundried tomato-olive relish, cucumber, avocado, lettuce tomato red onion & aioli.
• The BBQ Jackfruit from Smith’s Craft Beer House
  – Slow cooked green jackfruit, pulled and coated in our BBQ sauce in a toasted bun with lettuce, tomato, red onion, pineapple slaw, BBQ, and vegan aioli.
• The Big Spicy from Lord of the Fries Queenstown
  – beef patty, cheese, onion and lettuce topped with a Tobasco tomato sauce, jalapenos and chilli mayo.
• The Mushroom Cloud from The Ballarat Trading Co.
  – crumbed mushroom, Asian slaw & wasabi mayo.
• Various opinions from Fergburger.
• The Falafel Burger from Speights Ale House Wanaka
  – spiced falafel served in a toasted bun with tzatziki, pickled carrot, and a beetroot relish.
• The Bhaji Burger from Caargo at Gantley’s
  – crispy courgette bhaji, fire-roast eggplant, rocket, tomato, aioli, XOXO, jalapeno chermoula, and pickles on a Tumeric bun.
• The Vegan Smash Burger from World Bar Queenstown
  – 2 smashed vegan mushroom patty’s, vegan American cheese, red onion, fried shallots, pickles, mustard, special sauce on a vegan bun and served with fries.

MANAWATU-WHANGANUI

• The Falafel Burger from Schnapps Bar
  – vegetarian goodness.
• The Shredded Burger from Cafe Royale
  – shredded spiced jackfruit with homepace apple and onion relish, grilled pinaeapple and salad greens.

NELSON

• Jack and the Ninja Burger East Street
  – marinated jackfruit & hoisin tofu, house made smoked paprika and charcoal bun, lettuce, slaw, green pesto, aioli, sauerkraut and pineapple.
