    6. OTHER GENERAL FAQS ABOUT ICE BARS

How much ice do they have in the bars?
I was trying to find consistent numbers, but the best I could find was:

    • Minus 5 Ice Bar: 18 tonnes
    • Below Zero Ice Bar: 20 tonnes
    • Queenstown Ice Bar: 25 tonnes

How cold is it inside the Queenstown ice bars?

Cold! There’s no set temperature, but it’s usually in the -5°C to -10°C area. They can tell you just how cold it is when you’re there.

Do you need to dress for these temperatures?

Nope! All three ice bars provide jackets etc. to keep you warm during your visit.

    Are children allowed?
If you took note of the price list I’m sure you’ll know that children and babies of all ages are all welcome 😉

    Can we bring cameras?
You can, but they don’t always behave at such cold temperatures. Bring them at your own risk.

Does the ice melt at all?
Nope! But most ice bars will bring the ice sculptures in every few months to create new pieces of art, and touch up existing ones.

What do I need to bring to an ice bar?
All of the ice bars in Queenstown provide warm jackets, so as long as you’ve got ID (HANZ 18+, NZ Drivers Licence, and Passports) and proof of your booking you’re good to go. Some extra cash for extra drinks wouldn’t go astray either.

Do I need to bring ID?
It’s better to bring it rather than not. Remember in NZ, the only acceptable forms of ID are a valid passport, New Zealand Drivers Licence or HANZ 18+ card.

I hope this helps you figure out which of the ice bars in Queenstown.
